CHESHIRE- Michael James Coleman, 85, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Paradigm Health Care Center in Prospect. He was the husband of Veronica "Ronnie" (McKeon) Coleman.
He was born January 27, 1928 in New York, NY son of the late Thomas and Mary (Kennedy) Coleman.
Michael proudly served as a Paratrooper in the United States Army during World War II, and he was an alumn of Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY, Class of 1952. He was the Associate Dean for Administration at the Yale School of Medicine prior to his retirement.
He was a Councilman in New Jersey, a Lay Minister at St. Bridget Church, and in his free time was an avid Sailor, Hiker, Golfer, loved listening to Irish Music, and above all loved spending time with his family.
Besides his wife, Michael is survived by four sons Michael and his wife Colette Coleman, Kevin and his wife Sherrie Coleman, Joseph and his wife Kathy Coleman, and Robert and his wife Patricia Coleman; four daughters Mary and her husband Dan Fernandez, Nancy and her husband Kevin Columbia, Eileen and her husband Kurt Tiefenthaler, and Veronica and her husband Luke Ziccardi; a sister Marie Frances Coleman; and sixteen grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Thomas Coleman.
Arrangements- Michael's funeral will leave from the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St, 06410 on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 9:30AM for A Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in St. Bridget Church, 175 Main Street, Cheshire, 06410. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery, Wallingford Rd, Cheshire, 06410. Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 22, 2013 from 4PM to 8PM at the funeral home.
