WATERBURY — Thomas Lincoln Mecca, 88, died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011, at Waterbury Hospital with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Enes V. (Poli) Mecca for 54 years.
Mr. Mecca was born in Waterbury on Feb. 12, 1923, a son of the late Vito and Carmella (Rosa) Mecca. Mr. Mecca was the loving father of Linda LaChance and her husband, David, of Prospect, and Susan Girard and her husband, Gregory, of New York; beloved grandfather (grampy) of David LaChance, Kevin Girard, Nicolette LaChance and Thomas Girard; devoted brother-in-law to Marie, Sylvia and Anita; dear uncle of several nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend to Louis and Mildred. He was the youngest of a close knit family that predeceased him of five brothers, Donald, Ralph, Vincent, Joseph and John, and a sister, Mary Hotchkiss.
Tom, who was attending Roanoke College, left to enlist in the U.S. Navy to serve his country in World War II. He later established himself as the respected business man and owner of Mecca Motors of Waterbury with loyal customers for more than 40 years.
Funeral services will be held noon Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Road, Route 69, Prospect. Calling hours will be held on Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, from 10 to 11:45 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury.
