Esther Mcguiness

Naugatuck-Esther M. (Hopkins) McGuiness, 85, of Conrad Street, passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Joseph T. McGuiness .

Mrs. McGuiness was born on April 3, 1925 in Pittston, PA a daughter of the late William and Mary (McDonnell) Hopkins. She retired from Uniroyal Inc, Footwear Division after many years.

She is survived by two daughters, Maureen Paul and her husband David of Naugatuck and Patricia Schwartz of Naugatuck, one son, Thomas McGuiness and his wife Gayle of Santa Fe, NM, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband she was predeceased by one son, Michael McGuiness, three sisters, Ann Middleton, Dorothy O'Malley and June Morkavage and one brother, Kenneth Hopkins.

A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. Friends are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. There are no calling hours and the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave, Naugatuck is in charge of arrangements.
