Naugatuck-Karen (Haux) (Markette) McDermott, 61, passed away on Thursday June 17, 2010 at Waterbury Hospital after a long illness. Karen enjoyed her grandchildren, making jewelry and knitting blankets for her family. Karen was an advocate for the organ transplant program and was in the process of being entered on the transplant list.
Karen was born February 25, 1949 in Bridgeport, Ct. She is survived by two sons, Paul Markette and Jasen Markette of Naugatuck, Ct. She was predeceased by her son, Shane Markette and her sisters Deborah Ash and Darlene Ash. Besides her sons, Karen is also survived by her brothers, Richard Haux of Fairfield, Ct., George Haux and Frauk Haux Jr. of New York State. Karen was grandmother to six grandchildren, one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday June 22, 2010 at 11:00am at St. Francis Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. Friends and family are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours and the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave, Naugatuck is in charge of the arrangements.
