CHESHIRE - Maureen (Furlong) Spagnola, 90, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2022 at Livewell in Southington. She was the wife of Theodore “Ted” Spagnola.
Mrs. Spagnola was born November 29, 1931, in Waterbury, daughter of the late William and Margaret (O’Keefe) Furlong. Mrs. Spagnola was a graduate of Waterbury Catholic High and Post Junior College. She retired from Colonial Bank/Bank of Boston in Waterbury, CT after many years of dedicated service. Mrs. Spagnola’s strong work ethic, spirit, and devotion to her faith and family guided her in life. Mrs. Spagnola’s grandchildren fondly remember the summer months, referred to as “Grammy Academy”. She provided them with a foundation of learning and discipline. She enjoyed vacationing on the Cape, visiting Ireland, and attending tag sales with her sister, Kaley.
In addition to her husband of 55 years, Mrs. Spagnola is survived by her son, William Spagnola and his wife, Carrie, of Cheshire, her daughter, Patricia (Spagnola) Kelly and her husband, Brian, of Cheshire, her sister, Kathleen (Furlong) Williams, her sister-in-law, Sylvia Spagnola, her sister-in-law, Florence Furlong, her grandchildren, Brendan Kelly, Jillian Spagnola, Kiersten Spagnola, Devin Kelly, and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Spagnola was predeceased by her grandson, Christian Ted Kelly, her sister and trusted confidant, Eleanor (Furlong) Parlato, and her brothers, James, John and William Furlong.
Thank you to the many care providers that supported Mrs. Spagnola throughout her journey. The kindness she received will not be forgotten by her family. Private services for the family will be held.
Arrangements: Services for Mrs. Spagnola will be held at St. Bridget of Sweden Parish/St. Bridget Church at a date to be announced. Burial will be private.
