Dorothy Mason

Naugatuck-Dorothy (Hutt) Mason, 86, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Paradigm Healthcare Center of Prospect. She was the wife of the late Edward (Ted) Mason.

She was born July 4th, 1927 in Hanover, MA to William and Agnes (Maye) Hutt. Dot came to CT from MA with her family in the 1930's and settled in Naugatuck where she attended Groveside School and graduated from Naugatuck H.S. class of 1945. Also referred to as a Naugatuck institution Dot was a founding member of "The Naugatuck Tax payer's in Revolt" and made her thoughts and opinions know at the many Naugatuck Town Hall meetings she attended, especially when she would get up to speak.

She is survived by her brothers John (Jack) Hutt of Naugatuck and William (Bill) Hutt of Waterbury. Dorothy also leaves behind 2 very special god children Donna Foley of Cheshire and Father Peter Burkauskaus of Philadelphia, PA. Along with a large group of friends and relatives.

Besides her husband Edward she was predeceased by her two children, Edward (Teddy) Mason and Lisa E. Mason.


The funeral will be held on Monday, September 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. There are no calling hours and the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave, Naugatuck is in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Dot's name to the Howard Whittemore Library, 245 Church St, Naugatuck, CT 06770. And on the 4th of July raise a glass and toast to Dot, she was the original fire cracker.
