WATERTOWN- Mrs. Mary “Vi” (Nordstrom) Lindahl, 99, formerly of Watertown, passed away early Wednesday morning May 13, 2015 at the Middlebury Convalescent Home. She was the widow of the late Raymond Lindahl who passed away in 1980 following 35 years of marriage.
Mrs. Lindahl was born in Waterbury Mar. 27, 1916 a daughter of the late Edward and Anna (Nyquist) Nordstrom and spent her early childhood in Naugatuck. She later moved to Waterbury and was a graduate of Wilby High School. She had resided in Watertown for over 50 years. She retired in 1981 from the Southern New England Telephone Co. (S.N.E.T.) where she was employed as a directory assistance operator for over 17 years. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.
She leaves a daughter, Barbara Ronalter and her husband George of Naugatuck, a son, Jeffrey R. Lindahl of Shelton; two grandchildren, Melissa Grohs and Louis T. Grohs, Jr. and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Ernest Nordstrom, Edward Nordstrom, Anne N. Salomon, Vera N. Sheridan, and Elsie N. Rose. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the caring and dedicated staff at the Middlebury Convalescent Home for the care they provided to “Vi” while she was a patient there.
Her funeral service will be held on Friday May 15, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, 183 North St., Watertown. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
