Miss Mary Pogorzelska, 90, of Morris, died Friday Oct. 31, 2008 at the Marathon Health Care of Torrington. Miss Pogorzelska was born in Ansonia, Sept. 1, 1918, a daughter of the late John and Mary (Rutko) Pogorzelska and moved to Poland with her family. Out of foresight that a terrible Holocaust was coming to Poland, Marys Mother decided to send her to seek refuge in America. For the last 60 years, she lived with the Bram family, owners of the Rose Shop, which was in downtown Waterbury. Near the end of Belle Brams life, Mary was like a sister, providing loving care. Mary also provided important care to the Brams only daughter, Natalie Bram, which was appreciated for her Mother like devotion. Over the years, Mary had become a loving member of the Bram family enjoying there homes in Waterbury, Bantam Lake, Morris and Palm Beach, Fl. There were happy times with the enjoyment of travel to Poland where Mary was reunited with her mothers sister and other relatives. She also enjoyed many other travel experiences with the Bram family. Only recently Mary attended her 90th birthday party at Jupiters Restaurant in Middlebury, which was attended by her friends and enjoyed both Polish and Israeli music. She survived by her lifelong friend Natalie Bram of Morris; and her sister, Helen Wojciechowska and several nieces and nephews, all of Poland Her funeral will be held on Monday at 12:15 p.m. from the Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave. to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 309 South Main St., Waterbury for a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery, Seymour.
