Mary Pauline (King) Hurley, age 91, of Cheshire and formerly of Medford, MA entered into rest on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of the late William O. M. Hurley, who passed in 2008, after 58 years together. Mary was born on May 12, 1927 in Boston, MA, daughter of the late Michael and Dorothy (Joy) King.
Mary and Bill were founding parishioners of the Church of the Epiphany in Cheshire. They were devout Catholics and the church community served as the fabric of their lives. Mary was a member of the Knights of Columbus Women’s Auxiliary, the Columbiettes. She fancied tag sales and enjoyed visiting with friends and shopping, trips to the casino and bingo at St. Bridget Church. Above all else, Mary loved her family and was a great Irish wife, mother and grandmother.
She is the beloved mother of Michael G. Hurley and his wife, Alicia of Wilmington, MA; Timothy J. Hurley of North Berwick, ME; Noreen M. Hurley-Storace and her husband, Frank of Allston, MA; Mary Beth Hurley of Cheshire; and Dorothy King of Boise, ID. Mary is survived by her cherished grandchildren, Casey and Kerry Storace, Tabitha (Bryan) Talbot, and Nancy and William Hurley; and her great grandchildren, Aiden and Paisley. She is the loving sister of Lawrence (Pat) King of Deland, FL; Michael K. King of Beverly Hills, FL; Dorothy (Lester “Whitey”) White of Groveland, MA; Richard (Barbara) Madison of Groveland, MA; and is also survived by her cousin, Gail Palmer and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister, Marie King, who passed away as a child; sisters-in-law; Frances King and SonHui King, and her niece, Diane O’Connor.
Friends may greet Mary’s family at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 So. Main Street, Cheshire CT 06410 on Friday, March 22, 2019 from 8AM until 9AM. At 9AM her funeral procession will leave the funeral home for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30AM in St Bridget of Sweden Parish/St. Thomas Becket Church, 435 No. Brooksvale Rd., Cheshire. Interment will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery, Higgins Rd., Cheshire.
