NAUGATUCK - Mary E. (Stover) Mallory, 87, of Naugatuck, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011, at Waterbury Hospital after a short illness and courageous fight for life. She was the wife of Robert W. Mallory.

Mary was born Jan. 5, 1924, in South Bend, Indiana, daughter of the late Elmer and Erma (Lemler) Stover. She was a graduate of Kalmazoo College where she met her loving husband of 62 years, Robert. She moved from South Bend to Naugatuck in 1967 as a result of Robert's U.S. Rubber transfer. In Naugatuck, she raised a family and was very active in community affairs including: the Naugatuck Day Care Board, Naugatuck Congregational Church, and the American Association of University Women.

Besides her husband Robert of Naugatuck, she leaves a daughter Debbie Mallory of Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire; two sons Craig Mallory and his wife Ester of Burke, Virginia, and Kevin Mallory and his wife Margaret of Newton, Massachusetts, and her four grand children, Debbie's sons Chace Saunders and Riley Saunders, and Kevin's sons Kyle Mallory, and Luke Mallory. Also, Harry and Jane (Mallory) Wagner of White Lake, Michigan, and William and Helen Guinness of Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Funeral services will be held on Friday Feb. 4th, 2011 at 11 am at the Congregational Church of Naugatuck, 9 Division St. Burial will be at a later date in Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth, Ind. Calling hours will be on Thursday Feb. 3rd, 2011 from 5 to 8 pm in the Whittemore Room of the Congregational Church Parish House. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made the Naugatuck Day Care, 27 Carroll St., Naugatuck, 06770. The Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. is assisting the family with the arrangements.
