Mary M. Pieper

On July 16, 2022, Mary Mappa Pieper passed away quietly. Mary was born in New Haven on December 11, 1927, a daughter of (the late) Candido and Theresa Mappa. Mary was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband Joseph of 49 years.

Mary leaves behind her son and advocate Joseph (Pamela), her beloved granddaughter Nicole, son David (Amy) and grandchildren Shannon, Joe and Jake.

Formerly of Hamden and Cheshire, Mary was predeceased by her brothers, Pasquale and Joseph and survived by her sister, Ann.

For many years, Mary worked for Treadwell L. Jude Insurance Co. and for the Cheshire Public Schools-Highland School. Mary was an avid volunteer at St. Thomas Becket Church for 15 years, and she enjoyed working with the children in the CCD programs.

Over the years, Mary enjoyed her cross country trips and bus trips with her husband, especially her trip to Nashville, many get-togethers and dinners with her friends from the parish and enjoyed watching UConn basketball and NY Yankee baseball with her son Bud.

Mary will be missed by all who loved her.

Calling hours will be on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home, 615 South Main St., Cheshire, CT. At the request of the family, the burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cheshire Animal Shelter.
