Mary was born in Waterbury CT to Ted and Alice Carrington on November 24, 1936. She graduated from Eli Whitney and was proud of her nursing career. She had many favorite patients and cared for her Aunt Ida and mother in her home. Her heart was full and it overflowed onto all who knew her.
Mary married Andrew Maddaloni on May 24, 1962 in Cheshire and was devoted to her husband for the length of their 55 years together.
A shining example of love of family and God, Mary Lou was a faithful communicant of both The Church of the Epiphany and St. Bridget Church.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, sisters Rosemary Leyh and Patricia Smith and her parents.
She is survived by her daughter Maryalyce Bell and son in law Ronald Bell of Wolcott, her grandson Thomas Trevethan of East Haddam and granddaughter Sarah Bell of Wallingford, as well as her nieces and nephews. Lois Walters took excellent care of Mary and Mary loved her like a second daughter.
Mary was a very social woman and enjoyed the friendships she developed at church, as well as painting and creative writing classes. She endured many losses yet was a strong woman who never lost sight of the positive in life. Mary was always smiling and offering a hand for help and comfort.
To miss someone so much means they were extremely special. She is in our hearts forever and will always be missed. We know she's happy now. It hurts to be apart, but we will see her again. We are comforted to know she is in heaven, with loved ones, sharing her gifts and smiling down on all of us. We were blessed to have her in our lives.
