CHESHIRE – Mary Lois Garrity, 88, passed away Sunday March 24, 2019 at her home. She was the wife of the late Dr. Joseph Garrity who passed away in 1999.

Mrs. Garrity was born December 18, 1930 in Martinsburg, WV, the daughter of the late William and Pauline (Bowers) Grandstaff. She was a graduate of Georgetown University where she obtained her Bachelors in Nursing. She had been a longtime resident of Cheshire where she was a communicant of St. Thomas Becket Church.

Mrs. Garrity is survived by her four children: Winnie of Cheshire, Nancy of Beverly Shores, IN, Chris of Cheshire and Patrick of Middletown.

She was an avid gardener, enjoyed duck pin bowling and loved to travel, visiting multiple counties on five continents.

Arrangements – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday March 27, 2019 at 10 am at St. Thomas Becket Church, 435 N Brooksvale Rd, Cheshire. Friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery and there are no calling hours. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire is assisting with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Franciscan Hospice Care, 273 Finch Ave., Meriden, CT 06451.
