Mary L. (Zentek) Galko

Prospect - Mary Galko, 94 passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at her home. She was the wife of the late Walter Galko Sr.

Mrs. Galko was born and raised on Zentek Farm on February 17, 1929, the daughter of the late Pawel and Aniela (Jablonski) Zentek.  She was married in 1952 and moved to Prospect where Mary and Walt raised their family.  She was employed by U.S. Cap and Myers Supply before her retirement.  She loved growing flowers and vegetables in her garden entering them into the Prospect Grange Fair to win her Blue Ribbons.

A kind and generous person, who loved her family dearly and loved to cook for everyone. She loved and adored her lil’ dog Josey.

Mrs. Galko is survived by her children Andrew Galko, Anthony Galko and his wife Cheryl, Loie St. John and her husband Larry, Gayle Galko-McNamara (Richy), Walter Galko Jr., and his wife Cindy who were her special caregivers and opened their home to her; her sister Louise Curry; her grandchildren Tony Jr., Nick, Erica, Mandy, Brittany, David; and her six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and her husband, she is predeceased by her siblings Michael Zentek, Paul Zentek, Stanley Zentek, Joseph Zentek, Frank Zentek, Anna Cardo, Stella Behrmann, and Helen Petrowski.

Her family wants to offer special gratitude to her wonderful caretakers Celia, Maria, Cherie and Beverly.  In addition they would like to thank the staff of Hartford Healthcare and Home Hospice for their loving support.
