Mary Friez

Mary E. (Hobbie) Friez, 88, of 74 Edgewood Ave, Watertown, passed away May 31, 2009 at her residence. She was the wife of Henry J. Friez.

Mary was born September 11, 1920 in Waterbury; she was the daughter of late Ward D. Sr. and Anna M. (O'Neill) Hobbie. Mary attended Post Secretarial College where she received her degree.

Mary was a life long member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Waterbury, where she was active in the Girls Friendly Society, a Church School Teacher, an Advisor to Youth Groups, a Substitute Secretary, Secretary of the Women's Society and a Member of the Vestry. Mary over saw distributions of funds at St. John's Church for over 30 years, and was a member of several committees.

Besides her husband Mary is survived by two sons, David and his wife Sharon Friez of Niantic, CT and Peter and his wife Christine Friez, of Richfield, OH, three daughters Linda Friez of Thomaston, Kristan and her husband Joseph Lanoie of Waterbury, and Susan Friez of Terryville, six grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Ward D. Hobbie, Jr.

Arrangements- Funeral Services for Mary will be held Monday June 8, 2009 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 16 Church St, Waterbury at 10 A.M. Burial will follow in the St. John's Memorial Garden. There are no calling hours. The Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave, is in charge of the arrangements.
