Mary Imelda Finnegan

HAMDEN – Mary Imelda (Cashen) Finnegan, aged 76, passed away Friday, January 20, 2023 at her daughter’s home in Hamden. She was the wife of the late James Anthony Finnegan.

Mary was one of five children born September 21, 1946, in Dublin, Ireland to the late Patrick Cashen and Kathleen (Sullivan) Cashen. She came to the United States in 1989 settling in Hamden with her family. Mary loved to cook and garden. She loved to travel and to be by the ocean but her greatest joy was caring for her family.

Mary passed away after a brave battle with cancer, EATL, due to celiac disease. She leaves behind her loving children, Sarah Finnegan of Hamden, James Patrick Finnegan and his children Xavier and Xiomara of Florida formerly of Hamden, and Noreen Finnegan of Hamden.

Mary’s family would like to thank CT hospice for all their support. They would also like to bring awareness to celiac disease at Celiac Disease Foundation.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of Mary’s family and there are no calling hours.  The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire is assisting with arrangements.
