Mary Ann Brich

NAUGATUCK- Mrs. Mary Ann ( Franek) Brich, 91 of Naugatuck, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday afternoon April 21, 2012, at the Waterbury Hospital. She was the widow of Michael J. Birch, Sr. who passed away in 2005 after 57 years of marriage.

Mrs. Brich was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, Feb. 27, 1921, a daughter of the late James and Helen (Mattusick) Franek and was raised in Franklin, N.J. She was educated in their local school system and was a graduate of Franklin High School. She moved to Naugatuck in 1950. Shje was a former Girl Scout troop leader.

She is survived by 2 sons, Michael J. Brich, of Naugatuck, with whom she made her home and William E. Brich of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; one daughter, Linda Ann Doerr of Chittenango, NY; two sisters, Margaret Cobbol of Naugatuck, and Helen Illnicky of Dayton Dean, NJ, and 7 grandchildren.

Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery, Naugatuck. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday April 25, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m.
