Waterbury-Rose Ann Martone, 86, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Waterbury Hospital after a brief illness.
Miss Martone was born on September 25, 1927 in Waterbury a daughter of the late Lorenzo Martone and Clementina (Cochiolla) Martone. She was the co-owner of Martone's Grocery Store on Highland Avenue in Waterbury until her retirement in 1971.
She is survived by sister, Jane Martone, five nieces, Marianne Seeley of Watertown, Diana Raczowski and her husband James of Naugatuck, Corinna Fishman and her husband Michael, Rosemary Polokowski, and Christina Marrone and her husband Philip, six nephews, William Spinelli and his wife Antoinette, Frank Spinelli and his wife Doreen, Lawrence Martone and his wife Marilyn, Michael Martone and his wife Jane, Nicholas Martone and his wife Donna, and John Martone and his wife Caroline. She will also be missed by several great-nieces and nephews in both Long Island, NY and Connecticut.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Carmella Spinelli and Laura Martone.
A mass celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 785 Highland Ave, Waterbury. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours and the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Rd, Rte. 69, Prospect has been entrusted with the arrangements.
