WATERBURY — Ruth C. Maroney, age 79, of Waterbury, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at Saint Mary's Hospital.
Ruth was born in Waterbury, a daughter of the late John and Ruth (Steimly) Maroney. She was a graduate of Crosby High School and Colby-Sawyer College in New London, N.H. She worked at the United Way of Waterbury and was retired from Anamet Metal Hose, where she had worked in the Human Resources Department.
Ruth is survived by a brother, John F. Maroney of Waterbury; a sister-in-law, Eileen Maroney of Naugatuck; nephews, John P. Maroney of Watertown and Edward R. Maroney Jr. and his wife, Daphne, of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; a grandnephew, Tyler J. Maroney, and a grandniece, Amanda P. Sayers of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; and many cousins, including Father Maurice Maroney of Milford. She was predeceased by a brother, Edward R. Maroney Sr., and a sister, Maryann Maroney.
Ruth's family would like to extend a special thank you to her loving caregiver, Betty Barros, who took wonderful care of her.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Road, Route 69, Prospect, to St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church, 4 Union City Road, Prospect, for a Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
