Marion Elizabeth Bernier, age 98, of Prospect entered into rest peacefully on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at the Glendale Center in Naugatuck. Marion was born on March 22, 1916 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Walter and Lena Marietta (Palmer) Hankey and was a Naugatuck resident for most of her life.
Marion was a graduate of the practical nursing program and was employed as piece worker on an assembly line until her retirement. Her favorite pastimes were baking, gardening, she was avid horseback rider and extremely fond of horses; and was a voracious reader, having enjoyed many novels. She was a devoted mother, who put family above the rest.
She is the beloved mother of Dennis Bernier and his wife Rosemary of Norwalk; JoAnn Jackson and her husband Jerry of Norwalk; and Bette-Jean Napolitano and her husband William of Middlebury. Marion is also survived by one grandson. She is the sister of Edna Marie Lyons. She was predeceased by her sister Bernice “Babe” Lillian Wargo.
Marion’s funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at 6:30PM at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow Street, Naugatuck, CT 06770. Friends may greet her family at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 from 5PM until the time of her service. Her burial will be private and at the convenience of her family.
