Marion ‘Bunny’ Kann Bussmann of Cheshire, Connecticut passed away peacefully on June 2nd, 2024 at the age of 97. The beloved wife of the late John ‘Jack’ W. Bussmann. Bunny was born in Bridgeport, CT to August and Anna Saul Kann on October 9, 1926. She grew up in Nichols, graduated from Lauralton Hall, and Larson College (now Quinnipiac). At Larson one of her classmates was Jack's cousin. Recognizing a perfect match, the cousin introduced them at a Christmas house party in Woodbridge. From that day forward, whenever she drove by that house she would affectionately say, 'That’s where I met your dad, and it was love at first sight.' They were married for 64 wonderful years and together raised four children.
Always an athlete, she played catcher on the college baseball team and enjoyed skiing, badminton, and golf throughout her life. She loved to compete with her friends and was always quick with a laugh at the bridge table, win or lose. Bunny also never missed a chance to spend time with the other members of Farm Neck CC, Race Brook CC, and The Farms CC. More than anything, she took pride in her children, grandchildren, friends, and family, who fondly remember her as the most easygoing and loving person. She loved to join in song during family gatherings, and was an outdoor gal who always kept a garden full of flowers.
A resident of Connecticut her whole life, she cared deeply about the community. She spent time volunteering at the Assumption Church Women's Guild in Woodbridge and the local Red Cross.
Bunny is survived by her children; John (Jack) W. Bussmann, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Cheshire, Kenneth J. Bussmann of Wallingford, Elizabeth (Beth) Wilby and her husband Donald (Chip) of Cheshire and Barbara Lyke and her husband Jim of FL; seven grandchildren; Robin Wilby and their wife Jeannine Sloane-Wilby, Jeffrey Bussmann and his wife Nicole Haddad, Jessica Bussmann, John Lyke and his wife Monica , Anna Lyke and her husband Braden King, Kyle Bussmann and his wife Jane, and her great-grandson River Sloane-Wilby. She is predeceased by her husband Jack, siblings John and Bill Kann, grandson Christopher Wilby, and daughter-in-law, Marjorie Bussmann.
