CHESHIRE – Marie Iadarola Fadus, 92, passed away peacefully at Hartford Hospital on Monday, April 10, 2023, after a brief illness.
Marie was born on March 25, 1931 in New Haven, the daughter of the late Ralph T. and Pasqualena (Masi) Iadarola, Sr. and the eldest of three children.
A melancholy consequence of living such a long life is that Marie outlived so many of those she loved, including her husband Richard F. Fadus, her younger brother Ralph T. Iadarola, Jr. and his wife Judy (Dalton) Iadarola of North Haven, her beloved younger brother Richard E. Iadarola, a longtime resident of Southbury Training School, her brothers- and sisters-in-law Charles and Jean (Cahill) Fadus of Newtown, Joann (Fadus) Gizzi and Anthony Gizzi, Jr. of Ft. Lauderdale, and many of her cousins, friends, neighbors, classmates, and teacher colleagues.
Marie attended public schools in New Haven and is an alumna of Albertus Magnus College. She taught English and Latin in New Haven before she married Richard F. Fadus of Waterbury in 1955. They purchased a home in the Brooksvale area of Cheshire and raised a family of 5 children.
She was a communicant at St. Thomas Becket Roman Catholic Church, where she had also previously served as a eucharistic minister and religious education instructor. She was devoted to the Rosary and the Blessed Mother. For a few years in the mid-1970s, Marie taught at Dodd Junior High School, and then taught many years at Wilbur Cross High School in New Haven.
Marie was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Richard F. Fadus. She is survived by her sons Richard J. Fadus and his wife Doreen (Witkop) Fadus of Hampden, MA, Charles Fadus, and his wife Judy (O’Brien) Fadus of Midlothian, VA, Michael Fadus and his husband Urs Märchy of Oberägeri, Switzerland, Joseph Fadus and his wife Drusilla (Davis) Fadus of Rydal, GA, and daughter Amy (Fadus) Radikas and her husband Raymond of Glastonbury, CT.
"Mema" is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren: Ricky and wife Loryn (Dion) Fadus and their son Arthur; Matthew and wife Brigid (Townley) Fadus and their son Aiden; Ryan Fadus and Jack Fadus; Margaret (Fadus) Guffin and her husband Mark, James Fadus and Katherine Fadus; and Paulina Radikas and Marla Radikas.
Arrangements – Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 21, 2023 from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M., at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 Main Street. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 9:00 A.M. at St. Bridget of Sweden Parish – St. Thomas Beckett Church, 435 South Brooksvale Rd, Cheshire. Friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery, Higgins Road, Cheshire. Memorial contributions may be made to the Home and School Association of Southbury Training School, P.O. Box 872, Southbury CT 06488-0901.
