Naugatuck, CT Lucille Mary (Zuccarelli) Mariano passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at LiveWell in Plantsville surrounded by her children and her wonderful caregivers at LiveWell.

She was born on March 23, 1933 to Patsy and Josephine (Nardello) Zuccarelli. She was a lifelong Naugatuck resident and spent many years working in the Naugatuck Town Hall as Assistant to the Assessor.

She met her husband Bob at her very first job at the Bristol Company. They were married for 25 years before she was widowed at the age of 47. She was left to navigate life without him with the support of her siblings Lena, Zuckie, Johnny, Josephine, Madelyn and many friends. In her retirement she loved every minute of being a grandmother. She was the best Grammy, and her grandchildren have many happy memories of their time spent with her.

She is survived by her children, Roberta Burmeister (Paul), Donna Taylor (Jeffrey) and Steven Mariano (Jackie). She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Caitlin Taylor Atwell, Kristen Mariano Paulson, Melissa Mariano Lamb , Rachel Mariano (fiancée Patrick Ryan) and her “favorite grandson” Craig Taylor. She was delighted to have great grandchildren, Colbee Paulson, Eloise Atwell, Michael Paulson, Landon Lamb and Baby Atwell due in December. She also leaves several nieces and nephews who were very special to her. She was blessed to have many friends including her lifelong friends, Judy Jaworski and Margaret Savageau. Lucille was predeceased by her husband Robert and all of her siblings including Francis “Red” Zuccarelli.

Lucille lived her life as a women whose strength came from her strong faith. Psalm 121: “I lift up my eyes to the mountains-Where does help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth.”

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 11:00am at St. Vincent Ferrer Church, 1006 New Haven Road, Naugatuck. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. Calling hours are Wednesday from 8:30am to 10:15am at Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck. In lieu of flowers and to honor Lucille’s memory, contributions can be made to a charity that is close to your heart.
