Maria B. Tellmann

Maria B. “Mia” (Penth) Tellmann, age 97, of Cheshire entered into rest on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at MidState Medical Center in Meriden after a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late George J. Tellmann Sr. for over 65 years until his passing in January 2015. Maria was born on May 23, 1927 in Illingen, Germany, daughter of the late Peter and Katharina (Friedrich) Penth.

Maria and George were introduced by a mutual friend, during the post WWII occupation in Germany. After courting for two years, Maria came home with George to the United States, arriving in New York in 1948. Throughout the next several decades they would establish many homes throughout the East Coast from New York and New Jersey to Georgia and Florida. Mia stayed home to raise her boys and later enjoyed travelling throughout the United States, Europe and Japan with her husband.

She is the beloved mother of George (Karen) Tellmann, Jr. of Battleground, WA; Jeffrey Tellmann of Cheshire, CT; and Peter Tellmann of Oak Hill, VA. She also leaves her loving grandchildren, Jeffrey (Jessica) Tellmann, Jr. of Cheshire, CT, Nicole (Thomas) Bremer of Cheshire, CT, Kristin (Matthew) Hungerford of Beaverton, OR and Michael (Genevieve) Tellmann Jacksonville, NC; her cherished great-grandchildren, Parker, Emma, Penelope and Raina; her niece, Sigrid Bonk of Dusseldorf, Germany; and nephew, Klaus Peter Penth of Sankt Wendel, Germany. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Willie Penth.
