Maria Strother, age 95, of Waterbury entered into rest on Monday, February 24, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was the devoted wife of the late Lynnwood Radden. Maria “Mary” was born on March 27, 1924 in Pittsburgh, PA, daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Shaw) Harris.
Maria grew up in Pittsburgh and later moved to Boston before coming to Waterbury in 1977. She worked as a Registered Nurse for many organizations and privately at Heritage Village in Southbury. She enjoyed playing the daily numbers, soap operas and mall shopping. Maria will be remembered as “the life of the party” she was a social butterfly and loved having a good time at gatherings, listening to music and dancing with friends.
Maria is the beloved mother of Legairre Radden and his wife, Tracy of Waterbury; Lennaire Strother of Seymour; and Renee Fleming of Pittsburgh, PA. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren and cherished great-grandchildren; her brothers, Earl Harris, Lawrence Harris, William Harris and Clarence Harris; and her sister, Sherri Epps all of Pittsburgh, PA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Maria was predeceased by her daughter, LaSan Robinson; her brother, Charles Harris and her sisters, Euretha Harris and Jean Harris.
Friends may greet Maria’s family at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury, 496 Chase Avenue, Waterbury, CT 06704 on Saturday, February 29, 2020 from 12PM until 1:30PM. A Celebration of Maria’s life will follow at the funeral home at 1:30PM. Burial will be private and at the convenience of her family.
