CHESHIRE – Margaret “Peggy” Anna Mischke Talbot, 93, of Cheshire, beloved wife of the late James I. Talbot for 69 years, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at her home at Elim Park. She had been a resident of Cheshire for 62 years.
Peggy was born in Meriden on December 29, 1922; she was the daughter of the late Joseph Mischke and Anna Dobratz. She was a graduate of Lyman Hall High School, class of '41. Peggy was a proud homemaker and avid cook whose Toll House cookies and Christmas coffee cakes were legendary within her circle of family and friends. She was one of three women who established the library at Norton School, and she continued to volunteer there while her children were attending Norton. She also served as a member of the PTA and as a room mother. Peggy later worked as a secretary for Carbide Mold Service in Cheshire. She also learned bookkeeping and assisted her husband in his CPA practice.
Peggy was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, sister, nanny and friend. She is survived by her sister Joyce Dexter and her husband Arthur of Meriden; two children, Dr. John Milton Talbot of Kingston, Jamaica and Peter James Talbot and his wife Carol of Cheshire; two granddaughters Lauren and Lindsay Talbot both of Cheshire; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, Ramon Hennessey.
Calling hours will be held Monday, May 16, from 4pm to 7pm at Alderson-Ford Funeral Home, 615 South Main Street in Cheshire. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 17, at 2:00pm at St. Peter’s Church, 59 Main Street, Cheshire. Burial will follow at Cheshire Hillside Cemetery.
