CHESHIRE - Malin H. Atnes, 66, passed away Monday, August 22, 2016 at Mid-State Medical Center in Meriden. She was the wife of the late Roger Atnes who passed away in 1991. She was the longtime companion of Theodore Sarris with whom she made her home in Cheshire.
Malin was born February 2, 1950 in New Haven, the daughter of the late Russ and Ruth (Selmquist) Nicolas. She grew up in Hamden, graduating from Hamden High School before moving to Cheshire over 40 years ago. Currently she was the Vice-president of Certified Appraisals LLC in Cheshire. She was employed by the FBI working out of the New Haven office and had received many commendations from J. Edgar Hoover. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was an avid Red Sox fan. She enjoyed gardening but especially spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons Brian Atnes and his wife Nancy of Brielle, NJ, Kevin Atnes of Cheshire, Michael Atnes and his wife Jessica of Cheshire; her brother Robert Nicolas and his wife Jan of Hamden; as well as her five grandchildren; Justin, Peyton, Kayleigh, Gavin, and Avery. She is predeceased by her brother, Russ Nicolas.
Arrangements - The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main Street. Burial will follow in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday, August 24 from 4pm-7pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St., Rocky Hill, CT 06067-3045.
