Joseph Maguire

Naugatuck, CT Joseph Gilbert Maguire, 54, husband of Christine (Carman) Maguire, died unexpectedly on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Norwalk Hospital.

Joseph was born on June 2, 1967 in Waterbury, CT a son of William Maguire and the late Anne Marie (Toole) Maguire. Joe graduated from Naugatuck High School, Class of 1986 and worked as an electrician/fire alarm technician for Encore Fire Protection, United Alarm and Sarracco Mechanical Services. Joe was a former member of the I.B.E.W., Local 35.

Joe coached Union City Little League baseball and YMCA girls’ basketball and he loved the New York Yankees, New York Giants and UConn Women’s Basketball. Joe enjoyed traveling, especially to the Cape and he loved spending time with his family and friends.

Joe’s proudest moments included seeing his children being successful, with Jessica at Southern Connecticut State University and Ryan at University of Connecticut.

In addition to Christine, his wife of 22 years of Naugatuck and his father William of Watertown, Joe is survived by his daughter, Jessica Oliveira and her husband, Christian Oliveira of Naugatuck; his son, Ryan Maguire of Naugatuck; his brother, Rev. William J. Maguire, C.P. of East Haven; his sister, Marianne Szarkowicz (Tom) of Watertown and their children, Michael, Andrea (Nick), Thomas and Mary; his sister, Susan Maguire of Burbank, CA and her children, Samantha, William, Joseph, Sean and her granddaughter, A’leah; his father and mother in law, Joseph and Patricia Carman of Naugatuck; his sister and brother in law, Sharon and Dana Pollard of Ayer, MA; his faithful dog companion, Sammy and many aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition to his mother, Joe was predeceased by his brothers, John Francis Maguire and Dennis Patrick Maguire.
