CHESHIRE - Mae Richard Tabor (Maizie), 88, formerly of Narragansett, RI, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Alzheimer's Resource Center in Southington. She was the wife of the late James C. Tabor Sr., who passed away in 2007.
Mrs. Tabor was born January 11, 1929 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late John and May (Lambo) Richard. She was a lifelong Cheshire resident where she was Town Clerk for fourteen years, and Assistant Town Clerk for seven years prior. Upon her retirement, Mae and Jim moved to “Wildwings”, their summer home in Rhode Island. She joined her husband in his passion for golf and was known for her 2 holes-in-one.
Mrs. Tabor is survived by her daughters Dorcas (Dee) Prior Nesti of Wallingford, and Dana T. Menzies of Woodbridge; her sons Richard E. Tabor and James C. Tabor Jr. of Cheshire; her eight granddaughters; her four great-grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Sonny Joy; and her sister-in-law, Elaine Richard.
Arrangements – Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 20th at 10:00 at the First Congregational Church of Cheshire, 111 Church Drive, Cheshire. Her family encourages friends to wear bright clothes to celebrate her life. Burial will follow in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 19th from 6 to 8pm at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Resource Center in Plantsville, CT. Their staff provided compassionate care for Maizie and peace of mind for her family during her last years.
