St. Petersburg, FL – Madeline M. Quilter, 88, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2017, at St. Petersburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Joseph C. Quilter. She was predeceased by her brothers John Kelly and Raymond Kelly of Waterbury, and Francis Kelly of England.
Mrs. Quilter was born on December 2, 1928, the daughter of the late Francis X. and Bertha M. (Allman) Kelly. She was a retired retail bookkeeper/customer service representative for Robert Hall, Howland Hughes, and G. Fox & Co. She was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church in Waterbury for many years. She will always be remembered fondly by her niece-in-law, Elaine Quilter of SC, for her generous and loving spirit as well as her quick wit. To her devoted husband, she was known as "Puddin" and to many close family she was always lovingly referred to as "Sis". Her happy and positive attitude brought joy and laughter to those around her. She had a special love for animals and especially for her faithful canine companions over the years. Her family and friends were always close in her heart and memory.
Mrs. Quilter is survived by her nieces, Linda Hostetler of Watertown, Patricia Barrett of England and her nephews, John R. Kelly of Plantsville and Patrick Kelly of Waterbury. She also leaves several grand nieces and nephews.
Arrangements – Services for Mrs. Quilter will be private and at the convenience of her family. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury has been entrusted with her care.
