PLANTSVILLE- M. Teresa Sakonchick, 88, passed away on Sunday May 8, 2016 at Mulberry Gardens in Plantsville. She was predeceased by her husband Stephen Sakonchick. They were married 66 years.
Mrs. Sakonchick was born in New Haven, CT on December 12, 1927 to Wallace A. Wills and Margaret (Kelaher) Wills. She was a longtime Orange resident. She honorably served in the Civil Air Patrol during World War II. She was employed as a bookkeeper retiring well into her 70’s. One of her proudest accomplishments was earning an Associate of Science degree from Southern Connecticut State University in 2006.
Mrs. Sakonchick is survived by four sons, Stephen Sakonchick II and his wife Monica of Austin, TX, James and his wife Carolyne of Cheshire, Donald and his wife Beth of Avon, John and his wife Francelia of Glastonbury and daughter Linda (Sakonchick) Kolpak and her husband Harold of Cheshire. She was blessed with grandchildren, whom she loved, Chad, Bryn, Brian, Judy Beth, Kelli, Lindsey, John, Tracy, Odin, Samantha and Jordan as well as three great-grandchildren Elena, Lorenzo and James. She was pre-deceased by her granddaughter Victoria; grandson Jared and sister, Dorothy.
Arrangements- A private funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 11 at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 Main St, 06410. Burial will follow in Orange Center Cemetery.
