CHESHIRE - Lucille Groves, 85, formerly of Wallingford, passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021 at her home. She was the wife of the late Thomas Groves.
Mrs. Groves was born January 28, 1936, in New Bedford, MA, daughter of the late Louis and Emelda (Richard) Granger. A longtime Wallingford resident, she attended Holy Trinity Parish where her late husband served as Deacon. With their six children, Mr. and Mrs. Groves spent many years camping with the Quinnipiac Camping Association. In addition to her work in insurance, Mrs. Groves co-owned and operated of Granger Fabrics in Wallingford, and over the years has sewed slip covers, drapes and quilts for countless clients and family members. For the past 20 years, she called Cheshire home.
She is survived by her children Michael Groves, Catherine Fortin and her husband Marc, Elizabeth Lassen and her husband Jack, Jennifer Acampora and her husband Robert, Stephen Groves and his wife Sandi and Greg Groves; her siblings Omer Granger and Claire White; her 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her siblings Roger Granger and Georgette Coderre.
Arrangements – Visitation will be held on Tuesday June 22, 2021 from 6 to 8 pm at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. On Wednesday morning, her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 11:30 am and proceed to St. Thomas Becket Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in St. John Cemetery Wallingford. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St., Rocky Hill, CT 06067-3045.
