Naugatuck, CT Loretta M. (Mangine) Loyer, 94, the widow of Ronald L. Loyer, died peacefully on October 3, 2023 with loving family by her side.
Loretta was born January 28, 1929 in Waterbury, CT a daughter of the late Dominick and Angeline (Marinaccio) Mangine. She was a lifelong Naugatuck resident, attended local schools and graduated from Naugatuck High School. An award winning typist, Loretta retired in 1990 after working for several years as a secretary at Uniroyal, Inc. and the Naugatuck Glass Company. She was a member of the Naugatuck Women’s Club, she loved the UConn Husky’s and she was extremely proud of her family.
To her family, Loretta was “Nonie”, and she was the center of their world. Nonie was all things love, family and joy and she spent her whole life creating lasting memories of backyard picnics, cozy holidays, babysitting her grandchildren and fun family vacations. Her delicious food and world’s best pancakes were made from scratch and her recipes have been passed down to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Loretta is survived by her son, John Loyer and his wife Marion of Watertown; her son, Ronald Loyer of Naugatuck, her grandchildren, Michael Williams of Watertown, Michelle Sullivan and her husband Timothy Sullivan of Thomaston, John Loyer Jr. and his wife Pamela of Watertown, Joseph Loyer and his wife Valerie of Watertown, Jacqueline Loyer of Watertown, Ronald Loyer and his wife Clara of Wolcott; She leaves 12 great grandchildren; Lorea, Julia, Emily, Ava, Domenic, Olivia, Joseph, Thomas, Anthony, Juliana, Vincent, John and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, Loretta was predeceased by her daughter, Donna Williams and her husband Keith; her daughter in law, Virginia Loyer; her siblings, Joseph Mangine, Leonard Mangine and Eleanor Wilkas.
Calling hours will be Friday, October 6, 2023 from 10:30am to 12:00pm at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. A service will be held at 12:00pm, immediately following calling hours. In lieu of flowers and to honor Loretta’s memory, donations are requested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Ecumenical Food Bank, 75 Spring Street, Naugatuck., CT 06770.
