Louise Jeannette De Caprio

Louise J. (McGill) De Caprio, age 79, of Cheshire, entered into rest on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at VITAS in St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury. She was the devoted wife of the late John L. De Caprio Sr. for over 40 years. Louise was born on February 19, 1945 in the Bronx, NY, daughter of the late William J. and Marjorie (Mueller) McGill.

Louise was raised in the Bronx and was proud of her “City connection”. Stubborn in her ways, she lived on her own terms. Louise worked for NY Bell, later AT&T. She and her husband, John, met in the Bronx before relocating to Connecticut. Both she and her husband were active parishioners at the Church of the Epiphany, and Louise was a religious education teacher. She was a Girl Scout Leader for the local Brownie Troop, and stayed involved with her children’s schools, whether as classroom parent or the PTA. She had strong political beliefs, and stayed apprised of current events. Louise became a huge fan of the Boston Red Sox after coming to CT. She loved birds, and she had many as pets throughout the years, even collecting bird statues and other memorabilia.

Louise is the beloved mother of Christine Fagan and her husband, John, of Plainville; Laura DeCaprio and her fiancé, Paul Madonna, of Cheshire; and John DeCaprio Jr. and his wife, Pam, of Taylors, SC. She also leaves her 11 loving grandchildren, including, Taylor Bridgewater and her husband, Tyler; Angelina DeCaprio; Emily Fagan and Michael Fagan, Paul Madonna and Samantha Madonna; her cherished great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Arden Bridgewater; her sister, Marjorie Paist and her husband, Bernd of Harwich, Cape Cod, MA; her in-laws, Nick DeCaprio and his wife, Kathy of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; Mildred Farrell and her husband, Billy of Elka Park, NY; and Louis DeCaprio of Elka Park, NY; her adored African Grey, Odie; and several nieces and nephews. Louise was predeceased by her brother, William McGill Jr., and her sister-in-law, Catherine Garcia.

A Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bridget of Sweden Parish-St. Bridget Church, and burial at Cheshire Hillside Cemetery, will be held privately and at the convenience of her family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, www.nationalmssociety.org.
