Louis Fico, also known as Lou and Luigi, 99, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at Elim Park in Cheshire Connecticut.
Louis was born Dec 7, 1925 in Bridgeport CT, the son of the late Ferdinando and Michelina (Fortunato) Fico. He served in WWII as a Sergeant in the US Army/Airforce 44th Troop Carrier Group, Radar Mechanic Navigation. He met his wife of 70 years on May 25th, 1946, the day he returned home from WWII. He received his B.S. from Syracuse University through the GI bill and moved his wife and newborn son to Rochester NY to work at General Motors, where he rose to the position of Plant Manager before he retired, in 1985. One of his many comments was how he, at 99, lived more years in retirement than he worked. He and his wife moved back to their roots in Connecticut in 1994 to be with family. For the last 12 years, he lived in the Elim Park Community fostering many friendships with people who shared his Italian heritage and many others.
Our family wants to thank the Elim Park staff for their compassionate care especially these last two years. Many staff members, each in their own way, made his days special and happy.
Louis was predeceased by his wife, Gloria Lina/Evelyn (Provolo) Fico in 2018.
Louis is survived by his son Cary and wife Marian, his son Brian and wife Donna, his daughter Carolyn and husband Andrew; as well as his grandchildren Kristina, Jennifer, Danielle, Alyssa and great grandchildren Mathew, Noah, Jack, and Owen.
Our dad will always be remembered for his quick wit, his love of life, Italian food, lemons, laughter, and his many, many stories. Most of all, he will forever be remembered for his love of family.
Funeral services and burial will be private. There are no calling hours and The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main Street, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Tunnels to Tower Foundation, an organization helping veterans, first responders, and their families, at www.t2t.org.
