PLANTSVILLE; Mr. Lorenzo Gargano, 77 of Plantsville formerly of Waterbury past away Saturday August 21, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Giuseppa (Pernice) Gargano.
Mr. Gargano was born October 15, 1932 in Palermo, Italy a son of the late Andrea and Benedetta (Bondi) Gargano and had lived in Plantsville for the past eight years after residing in Waterbury for 26 years. He was educated in Italy and was a veteran of the Italian Army. Mr. Gargano worked as a construction foreman for 15 years in Italy and was a member of the Bricklayers Union as a mason in New York for six years and was also a cabinet maker for LesCare Kitchens retiring after many years of service. Mr. Gargano loved spending time with his family and most especially his grandchildren. He loved his "Italy" soccer team and to garden.
Besides his wife he leaves his sons, Andrew Gargano and his wife Jane of Wolcott and Joseph Gargano and his wife Michele of Naugatuck, his daughter, Carmela Avery and her husband Brandon of Plantsville, his brother Vincenzo Gargano of Long Island, NY, his sister, Maria Clemente of Italy, seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, brother and sister.
Funeral services for Mr. Gargano will held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury 9 Holmes Avenue to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Watertown. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Bristol Visiting Nurse Association 195 Maltby Street Bristol, CT 06010.
