Southbury - Lois Levin, 95, formerly of Waterbury, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Danbury Hospital. She was the wife of the late Stanley Levin, who passed away in 2003.
Mrs. Levin was born October 5, 1921 in West Hartford, the daughter of Herman and Rebecca (Cousins) Levin. She was a 1942 Wellesey College Graduate and obtained her Master’s in Education from Sothern Connecticut State College. She was a longtime Waterbury resident before moving to Southbury in the mid-2000s. During her years in Waterbury, she was active with Literacy Volunteer of Greater Waterbury; the Visiting Nurses Association serving as a board member, and the Waterbury Symphony. She was also active in the reformed sisterhood.
She is survived by her daughter Amy and her husband Thomas Halket of Larchmont, NY; her son Adam Levin, and his wife Gail Nathan of Hingham, MA; five grandchildren Jenny Halket, Hannah Levin, Jonathan Halket and his wife Maria Nicanor, Andrew and his wife Breanna Halket, Douglas and his wife Emily Halket; a great granddaughter Penelope; and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements – Funeral services were held on Friday, August 11, 2017 at B'Nai Israel Temple, 444 Main St. North, Southbury. Burial followed in Melchizedek Cemetery. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury, 496 Chase Ave., assisted with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Wellesley College, where Mrs. Levin was a proud alumni and member of the Wellesley Club, 106 Central St., Wellesley, MA 02481.
