Naugatuck - Lois Labriola, 92, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023, at her home. She was the beloved wife of Dr. Jerry Labriola.
Mrs. Labriola was born on May 8, 1931, in Waterbury, the daughter of the late George and Viola (Carlson) Follett. A lifelong Naugatuck resident, she graduated from Naugatuck High School, Class of 1949, Skidmore College, Class of 1953, and obtained her Masters in Psychology at Southern Connecticut State University. She was a School Psychologist for the Naugatuck Board of Education for thirty years. She was an active member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church, where she was involved with the Knit Wits, a knitting group that supported area children’s organizations.
Lois loved her family and was grateful to have spent time with each and every family member. She and Jerry loved traveling, literally circling the globe several times, and they enjoyed experiencing many cultures in nearly every country on earth. She chronicled their travels in dozens of scrapbooks, where she narrated all the photos she took around the world. She spent her time reading fiction, doing crossword puzzles and especially loved cheering on the UConn Women’s Basketball team.
Earlier this year, Lois and Jerry celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
Lois is survived by her husband Jerry, children Jerry Labriola, Jr. and his wife Barbara, David Labriola and his wife Joanna, and Sue Labriola; her brother George “Bud” Follett (Marie); her grandchildren Kristen (Mark), Jane (Ian), Sarah (Kevin), Lindsey, Nick (Andrea), Alex, and Kate; as well as her ten great-grandchildren.
