Donald Morgan Lockwood born on September 19, 1931, passed away on June 9, 2023, at 91, only twelve days after his beloved wife Ann’s passing on May 28, 2023, at age 89.
Don was born in Norwalk, Connecticut, to the late Alan and Sylvia Lockwood and attended schools there, graduating from Norwalk High School in 1950. Don and Ann spent most of their lives together, having married in 1956 following Don’s service in the Navy during the Korean War. After graduating from Dickinson College in 1958, he spent the next thirty-five years in banking, with the final six as president at Fairfield County Savings Bank in Norwalk. In addition, Don was a past president of the Fairfield County Bankers' Association, campaign chairman and president of the United Way, and a board member of various other local organizations. Don’s kindness, intelligence, and devotion to Ann were admired by all who knew him.
Don and Ann especially enjoyed time on their sailboat, Symbio, sailing on Long Island Sound for several years. They also restored and maintained their 1760 house in northern Norwalk where they lived for thirty-five years. In 2010, they moved to a retirement community in Niantic but still made time for frequent getaways to their favorite vacation spot in Rockport, Maine.
Don is survived by Ann’s brother, Edward Lockwood, their nieces Stacy Clark and Katie Kenny, and many other nieces and nephews around the country who will dearly miss “Aunt Ann and Uncle Don.”
A private celebration of life will be held this summer and the family asks that any charitable donations be made to the East Lyme Public Library, 39 Society Road, Niantic, CT 06357.
