Lillian Ruth Buckley was born on September 11, 1928, in New Haven, Connecticut, a daughter of the late Peter and Hilda (Miller) Lobner and peacefully passed away on Sunday October 27, 2024, at the Whitney Rehabilitation Care Center. She was the wife of the late Andrew J. Buckley. Lillian was a beloved wife, daughter, mother and friend. Lillian's life was filled with kindness, compassion, and dedication to her family and friends.
After receiving her diploma from West Haven High School, Lillian embarked on a successful career as an Assistant Manager in the insurance industry, working diligently for over 30 years at Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Lillian was an excellent baker and cook, who loved sharing her delicious goodies with family and friends. She enjoyed many creative projects, such as knitting, crocheting, sewing and embroidering. Lillian had a “green Thumb” as she tended to her beautiful outdoor gardens and her large variety of lovely houseplants. Lillian became a member of the wonderful Cheshire Senior Center, where she joined their Crafty Ladies craft group. She participated in their many activities, but one of her most favorite was playing cards, especially Pinochle.
Lillian is survived by her devoted daughter, Linda Ann Buckley, who she cherished deeply. Besides her parents and husband, Lillian was predeceased by her brothers, William Lobner, Ernest Lobner and Harvey Lobner and her sister, Olga Snow.
Funeral services for Lillian will be celebrated privately. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire 615 South Main Street has care of arrangements. Donations in Lillian’s name may be made to the Cheshire Senior Center 240 Maple Avenue Cheshire, CT 06410.
