WATERBURY- Libbye Charlotte Kaplan, 82, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Beacon Brook Health Center after a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Jerome Kaplan.
Mrs. Kaplan was born March 29, 1931 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Harry and Anna (Chaimowitz) London. She graduated from Driggs School, Crosby High School, Brooklyn Jewish Hospital School of Nursing and Yale University.
Mrs. Kaplan was a nurse practitioner at the Elderly Health Screening of Western Connecticut. Prior to that, she was a registered nurse at Waterbury Hospital and Chase Brass & Copper. She was a life member of Hadassah.
Besides her late husband of 56 years, she was the loving mother of Richard Kaplan and his wife Mary of Waterbury, and Janet Lieberson and her husband Robert of Marblehead, MA; the cherished grandmother of Sarah and Matthew Lieberson, and the sister of Sherman London and Melvin London.
Arrangements: A graveside funeral will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at 11:00AM at the Hebrew Benefit Cemetery, Stillson Rd, Waterbury. Shiva will be observed on Sunday and Monday from 6:00 - 8:00PM at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kaplan, 52-9 Deerwood Lane, Waterbury. The Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave, 06710 is in charge of the arrangements.
