WATERBURY- Mr. Leonard J. Sexton, Sr., 84, of Waterbury, passed away Thursday morning Dec. 17, 2015 at the VITAS Hospice Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital, Waterbury.
Mr. Sexton was born in Waterbury, June 6, 1931, a son of the late John and Lillian (Kentana) Sexton. He was a Waterbury resident for many years and had formerly lived in Naugatuck. He was a graduate of Naugatuck High School and was a retired employee of Style-Leader Fashions, and had worked for several other industries during his career. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Naugatuck Arie # 640 and had coached their Baseball Team for a number of years. He had also served as a Baseball coach for the former Dean’s Restaurant.
He leaves his former wife, Lucy (Champagne) (Grohmann) Sexton of Waterbury; 2 sons, Michael Sexton (Susan) and Leonard Sexton, Jr. both of Waterbury; one daughter Adelaide Dolan (John) of Naugatuck; 3 sisters Joyce Wasserback (Billy) and Arlene Gedraitis, both of Prospect and Louise Martorelli of Waterbury, 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Andrew Sexton.
His funeral service will be held on Tuesday Dec. 22, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Alderson-Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. Burial will be private. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. until the start of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the family.
