NAUGATUCK- Mr. Leo Albert Tousignant, 89, of Naugatuck, passed away unexpectedly Monday afternoon Feb. 11, 2013, at his home. He was the husband of Gertrude (Robert) Tousignant.

Mr. Tousignant was born in Lowell. Mass., Mar. 18, 1023, a son of the late Angelo and Regina (Desoharnais) Tousignant and was educated in the Lowell school system. He graduated from Lowell High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving during W.W. II in the American Theater. He was an employed as an Engineer with the U.S. Army Corps. Of Engineers working on a number of flood control projects constructing Dams following flooding. He had resided in various areas of the state and had been a Naugatuck resident since 1969. He retired in 1975 with over 20 years of service. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and loved working in his vegetable garden.

Besides his wife of 59 years, he leaves one son, John Tousignant and his wife Brenda of Naugatuck; two daughters, Jean Hartshorn and her husband, Daniel of Naugatuck, with whom he made his home and Judy Sandulli and husband Peter of Florida; one sister, Joan Tousignant of Deerfield, Mass. and 5 grandchildren, Tom Tousignant, Tim Tousignant, Kevin Tousignant, Ryan Sandulli, and Kyle Sandulli.

A Graveside service with full military honors will be held on Saturday Feb. 16, 2013 at 11 am in St. James Cemetery, Cross St., Naugatuck. Friends may call at the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. on Saturday morning from 10 am until the procession leaves for the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice
