Cheshire ' Leo P. Lavallee Jr., 75, of Cheshire, passed away Thursday June 18, 2009 at home with his beloved wife Theresa (Correra) Lavalle by his side.

Mr. Lavallee was born September 27, 1933 in Providence, RI, bringing his family to Cheshire in 1968. Mr. Lavallee became a great contributor to the town of Cheshire. In 1975, he founded Nutmeg Utility Products Inc., a company that became a regional manufacturing and distribution company serving the telecommunication industry. He served as Chamber of Commerce member and president in the 1980's. Last year, Mr. Lavallee was recognized by the Cheshire Chamber with a community service award honoring him for his many years of service. He also volunteered as a Board Member and President of the Education Foundation.

Mr. Lavallee was a Cheshire Rotarian where he was named a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a communicant of St. Bridget Church and served as an Eucharistic Minister in area hospitals. He proudly served his country as a 1st Lieutenant for the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Besides his wife of 50 years, Mr. Lavallee is survived by his son Leo Lavallee III of Cheshire; his daughters Jeannine Lavallee and her husband Nelson Algarin of Prospect and Elizabeth Lavallee of Plantsville; his four grandchildren Michael and Maria Lavallee and Chloe and Ryan Flanagan.

Arrangements ' Funeral services will be held on Monday June 22, 2009, 9:15 from the Slater Funeral Home 242 S. Main St. to St. Bridget Church for Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
