Lawrence Bray

Lawrence W. Bray, 85, of 59 Pleasant Drive, Cheshire passed away Friday, April 17, 2009 at The Highland Health Care Center in Cheshire. He was the husband of Abby W. Bray.

Lawrence was born September 22, 1923 in New Haven, CT and was the son of the late Howard and Louise (Weidmann) Bray. Lawrence served in the United States Navy on the U.S.S Prairie from 1943 to 1946. Following his service he received a degree from the University of Connecticut, Class of 1950. He was employed as an Assistant Treasurer and Controller at Scovill Inc. until his retirement in 1985.

Lawrence was a member of the First Congregational Church in Cheshire where he was a fifty-year member. He also was a fifty year member of The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and The Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Besides his wife Lawrence is survived by two sons, Ronald Brey of Fountain Valley, CA and Robert and his wife Cynthia Bray of Whitehouse Station, NJ, a daughter Sharon and her husband Richard Farrelly of Berwyn, PA, three sisters Minnie Carlson of New Haven, Helen Law of New Haven, and Florence Wynne of Hamden, and five grandchildren Chelsea, Stephanie, and Christopher Bray, and Allison and Elizabeth Farrelly.

Arrangements- A Memorial Service for Lawrence will be held Tuesday April 21, at The First Congregational Church of Cheshire, 111 Church Dr, Cheshire at 11 A.M. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. The Slater Funeral Home, 242 South Main St, Cheshire is in charge of the arrangements.
