CHESHIRE- Laura Clementsen, 89, passed away Thursday February 27, 2014 at her residence. She was the widow of Arthur Clementsen who predeceased her in 2008.
She was born in October 20, 1924 in Montpelier, VT daughter of the late Mary (Warren) (Burnham) Soper.
Laura was a graduate of Woodbury High School, Post Junior College, and Southern Connecticut State University where she received a BA, MS and 6th year certificate.
She served as a Ph M 2/C in WAVES during World War II. Laura was a School Psychologist for the Bristol Public Schools prior to her retirement, and spent the last year as a Columnist for the Cheshire Citizen.
Laura was a member of the Yalesville United Methodist Church, the Hartford Lodge Sons of Norway. She also volunteered at the Neighborhood Music School in New Haven.
She leaves behind a sister Bettymae Bond; her brother Lisle Burnham, nieces, nephews, a cousin, and many loving friends. She was predeceased by her son Clark Clementsen; her brother Sid Burnham and MacWilliam Burnham; and her half-brother Elmer.
Arrangements- A Memorial Service for Laura will be held Saturday April 26, 2014 at the Yalesville United Methodist Church, 8 New Place Street, Yalesville, CT 06492 at 11 A.M. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Woodlawn Cemetery, Attleboro, MA. There are no calling hours. Donations in her name may be made to Planned Parenthood of Southern New England, 345 Whitney Avenue, New Haven, CT 06511, or to the Yalesville United Methodist Church, 8 New Place Street, Yalesville, CT 06492.
