Naugatuck - Mrs. Ann (Finateri) Laudate, passed away peacefully on Monday October 4, 2010 at the age of 93 after a brief illness. Mrs. Laudate was predeceased by her husband Sam Laudate to whom she was married for over 50 years. Mrs. Laudate was born in Naugatuck on December 22, 1916, and was the loving daughter of the late Massimino and Mary (Ferrone) Finateri. A life-long resident of Naugatuck, Mrs. Laudate attended Naugatuck schools and was a parishioner of St. Francis Church. Mrs. Laudate was a former employee of the Peter Paul candy factory, and retired from the Uniroyal Footwear Company.

Mrs. Laudate cherished time with her family and her many dear friends. She was the first to lend a helping hand and was generous to a fault. Mrs. Laudate was always there to celebrate every friend and family member's success, and lived life to the fullest. She was an avid supporter of many area Bingo halls, as well as the casinos of Foxwoods, Mohegan Sun, and when the opportunity presented itself, the slots of Las Vegas and Montreal. Mrs. Laudate had a passion for travel. She regularly traveled throughout New England and the United States, for weekends in New York and Boston, as well as to Italy, Germany, Holland, Hawaii and on the great trip of her life to Japan. Her life was truly well-lived and she was truly well-loved.

Mrs. Laudate is survived by her two children, daughter MaryAnn Laudate and friend John Masayda of Naugatuck, and son Dominic Laudate and his wife Karen, also of Naugatuck She is also survived by her sister Catherine Cuccuru and brother Dominic Finateri, both of Naugatuck; brother-in-law Peter Cante of Naugatuck, and sister-in-law Grace Finateri of Waterbury.

Mrs. Laudate is also survived by her grandchildren: Andrew Laudate of Boston, MA; Roy Laudate and his wife Tammy of Naugatuck; Dominic Laudate and his wife Penny of Prospect; Marie Laudate of Waterbury; Virginia Laudate of Naugatuck; four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and by dear family friend Claude Lamay of Waterbury. Mrs. Laudate also leaves many loving relatives life-long friends.

In addition to her husband Sam Laudate, Mrs. Laudate was predeceased by her son, Andrew Louis Laudate of Naugatuck, brothers Nunzio Finateri of Naugatuck and Angelo Finateri of Waterbury, and by her sister Carmella (Millie) Cante of Naugatuck.

The family would like to thank the nurses and home health care aids from New England Home Care, the staff at Glendale Health Center, and the doctors and nurses of St. Mary's Hospital for their kindness, compassion and wonderful care throughout her illness.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave, Naugatuck to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St, Naugatuck for a mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5-8 p.m.
