Eleanore Landry
“A beacon of love, strength and kindness”

NAUGATUCK, CT It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved mother, Eleanore Landry, who left us peacefully on September 17, 2024 at the age of 78. A beacon of love, strength and kindness, she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Born on November 8, 1945, in Waterbury, Connecticut, Eleanore was the loving daughter of the late Conrad J. and Celina M. Landry. She devoted her life to nurturing those around her with a selflessness that touched many lives. Although she was the youngest child, she acted as though she was in charge by being the ultimate caretaker to her parents and siblings. As a mother, she was the heart of our family, always guiding us with wisdom, compassion, and unwavering support. She was fierce and mighty when it came to facing challenges and we always knew she’d be there for us no matter what.

Eleanore was known for her outgoing personality; she always knew someone wherever she went and she loved to share stories about her family with them. Eleanore was also known for her signature dishes of stuffed cabbage and shepard’s pie. She took great pride in knowing that no one else made them as good as she. Without a doubt, Eleanore was the spark at family gatherings and would openly give a hug and kiss to all who attended.

Eleanore is survived by the love of her life, Richard DiFederico; her son, Michael Eureka; her daughter, Paula Dest and her husband Michael; her daughter, Gail Eureka; her grandchildren Danielle Dest and her fiancé, Christopher Keefe, Jacqueline Dest, Natalie Dest, Nicholas Dest, Matthew Eureka and Abigail Eureka.

Eleanore was predeceased by her infant daughter, Michele Mary, who we know she is now cradling in her loving arms; her brothers Lawrence Landry, Richard Landry, George Landry, Gilbert Landry; her brother-in-law, Richard O’Connor, and her sister Jeannine Labrecque. She leaves her two brothers, James Landry and Randolph Landry and his lifelong companion Edward Edmonds, her sister, Frances O’Connor, her sister-in-law Lucy Landry and many loving nieces and nephews to mourn her passing with great grief and sorrow. She will forever be known as their “Auntie’nor.” In addition to her family, Eleanore was embraced wholeheartedly by the DiFederico family for the past 12 years. She took great pleasure in the many gatherings with Richard’s children; Lisa Coer, Richard DiFederico Jr, Lynne Wade, Anthony DiFederico, Shirleyann Duprey and Lenore DiFederico as well as their children and grandchildren.

Though Eleanore is no longer with us, the memories of her warm smile, contagious laughter, and kind soul will remain in our hearts forever.

A Memorial Mass to celebrate her remarkable life will be Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 10:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck.
