CHESHIRE - Kristen M. Slocum, 58, passed away Monday, February 10, 2014 at her home with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Timothy P. Slocum.
Kristen was born January 10, 1956 in Hartford, the daughter of Alwin and Dorothea Wulff Manke. She was raised in Cheshire, attending local school and she attended Mount Holyoke College. She was a member of the Cheshire Lutheran Church. She was active in her children's lives attending every sporting event, assisting in various Cub Scout and Girl Scout functions, and most recently volunteering with the Waterbury Chapter of Autism Speaks. She was a longtime employee of CVS in Cheshire where she had many wonderful friends.
Besides her parents and her husband of 38 years, Kristen is survived by her sons Christopher of New Britain and Nathan of Cheshire; her daughters Gretchen and her husband Andrew Cavanaugh of Wolcott and Emily and her husband Adam Lerman of Baltimore, MD; her brothers Steven Manke and his wife Laurie of Wallingford, David Manke and his wife Cynthia of St. Augustine, FL, Matthew Manke of Meriden, and Jonathan Manke of Cheshire; grandchildren Andrew and Alexander. She is also survived by her beloved mother-in-law, Geraldine Slocum of Cheshire; her brother and sister-in-law Shaun and Nancy Slocum of Cheshire; her sister-in-law Sharon King of Manchester; her brother and sister-in-law Kevin and Kathy Slocum of Greenwich, her brother and sister-in-law Kyle and Cynthia Slocum of West Hartford as well as many nieces and nephews. Kristen's greatest joy was her family.
The family has heartfelt thanks to all that assisted in Kristen's care. Kristen was truly grateful for the love and support she received from her nurses and doctors at MidState Medical Oncology Center in Meriden.
Arrangements - Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 15, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Cheshire Lutheran Church, 660 West Main St., Cheshire. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday February 14, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S.
