BEACON FALLS - Mr. Francis D. Koerber, 94, died peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011, at his home. He was the widower of Eleanor Viola (Heavens) Koerber.
Mr. Koerber was born in Beacon Falls on Feb. 13, 1917, a son of the late Frank and Charlotte (Schwenck) Koerber, and was predeceased by his son, Robert F. Koerber, his sister, Ellen Toshack, and his two brothers, Frederick and Arthur Koerber.
Mr. Koerber was retired from Homer D. Bronson Co. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion and a life member of the Beacon Hose Company No. 1.
Mr. Koerber is survived by three sons, David E. Koerber and wife, Ann, of Westfield, Mass., Paul F. Koerber of White River Junction, Vt., and James B. Koerber and wife, Linda, of Southbury; his grandchildren, Jonathan D. Koerber and wife, Tina, of Charleston, W.Va
., Jennifer A. Gilroy and husband, Greg, of New Fairfield, Alyssa Koerber and Matthew Koerber, both of Southbury; and three great-grandchildren, Eric D. Koerber of Charleston, W.Va
., Zoey A. Gilroy and Violet D. Gilroy, both of New Fairfield. He also leaves his devoted niece, Eileen Toshack Rossi of Beacon Falls, and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Aug. 19, 2011, at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck. Private funeral services and burial with full military honors will be held at the convenience of the family.
